Action Against Hunger has been working in Yemen since 2012 and is present in both the North and South of the country with ongoing operations in the Governorates of Al Hudaydah and Hajjah in the North and Al Hudaydah (South/West Coast), Lahj and Abyan in the South. These operations are managed by Coordination Offices in Aden and Sanaa, and 2 Field Offices in Al Khawkhah and Al Hudaydah Governorates. In Yemen, Action Against Hunger’s current sectorial expertise is focused on Health and Nutrition, FSL, WASH, and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS). Action Against Hunger has strong technical and operational capabilities in Yemen, with additional support provided through our international network, ensuring technical, managerial and financial support as needed. Our team is running operations of approximatively 7 million Euros. The main donors of the mission are ECHO, GFFO, GAC, CIAA and CDCS.

ACF is operationally working in 2 bases: Hodeida and Aden, with its coordination team located in Sana’a. With ACF's global experience in the sectors of Health and Nutrition, FSL and WASH, coupled with our local presence, we have developed programme methodologies that ensure vulnerable populations have access to essential healthcare, while also providing targeted support to food insecure households and addressing some of the public health risks that can cause morbidities.

 

Your position and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Deputy Country Director for Programmes, your mission will be to lead the MHPSS department, ensuring innovation and the quality of the deployment of the sectoral strategy and MHPSS operations of ACF France within the country office

The main responsibilities and challenges of the position will be as follows : 

 

  • Define MHPSS strategies and positioning for the country office
  • Coordinate and support the implementation of MHPSS programmes
  • Functionnally manage and supervise MHPSS teams 
  • Represent ACF and promote its positioning with the MHPSS sector 

 

Your profile

 

You hold a Master’s Degree in psychology, mental health.


At least 5 years of professional experience in international solidarity, with minimum 3 years in humanitarian and/or development project management in the MHPSS sector.

You have experience working on Health, Nutrition, MHPSS and/or WaSH integrated programmes.

You demonstrate a high capacity communicator with strong representation skills and proven proposal writing and program development capacity.


Having experiences in the Middle East would be a plus

Prior experience working with ACF. 

You master English (written and spoken).

 

Your employment conditions

  • Fixed term contract under French legislation: 3 months
  • Monthly gross salary from 2597 to 2968€ upon experience,  including 13th month
  • Reimbursement of the pension insurance for non-French citizens: 16% of the gross monthly salary
  • Annual salary increase: 6% increase after and each 12 months of continuous contract
  • Monthly per diem and living allowance: 730$ net, field paid
  • Monthly country allowance: 450€ 
  • Child allowance: 1500€ per year per child present in the country of origin (maximum 6000€/year)
  • Transportation and accommodation: Coverage of transportation costs and guest house
  • Medical coverage: ACF covers 100% of the health and repatriation insurance agreement fees, for your medical expenses (as well as your dependents if you have a family post), and up to 1 month after the end of your contract.
  • Salary sustainment measures (sickness, paternity, maternity)Leaves and RnR: 25 days of paid leaves per year, 20 RnR per year, airfare reimbursement with a ceiling to get to the chosen break destination, and 215 € for each RnR period

We are looking for someone with experience in the ACF's MHPSS approach, who could replace the MHPSS HoD currently working with ACF Yemen during three months. Between September and November 2026, in addition to leading the MHPSS department and guiding the implementation of the MHPSS ongoing interventions, working closely with the MHPSS teams in Northern and Southern Yemen, will particularly be asked to be involved in the development of the department strategy that will feed the country office strategy 2027-2029, as well as contributing to the development of new projects.
